About the Royal Hotel, Stornoway

Situated beside Stornoway's marina and lifeboat station, the 26 bedroom Royal Hotel affords views across the inner harbour  to Lews Castle and the lawns around it.

Built around 1850, this Stornoway hotel has been extended a numer of times over the years, but retains many period features, particularly within several of the guest bedrooms facing the harbour, which have been renovated in a manner sensitive  to the hotel's history.  

The managers and staff take great pride in seeking to achieve the highest levels of service and hospitality to guests and this is reflected in the comments received  from both hotel residents and restaurant patrons.

Two  restaurants offer a choice of eating styles - the nautically themed Boatshed is a traditional  à la carte restaurant.  The  menu is modern and creative, taking advantage of the many fresh ingredients available to us locally.  HS-1 is a contemporary café -bar  with a comprehensive menu ranging from light-bites to full meals.  Sharing a kitchen with the Boatshed, HS-1 has a great local reputation for its food quality - both restaurants are very popular with local residents.

The hotel is about 150 metres from the town centre, with shops, banks, arts centre, etc., and has patrons' car parking at the rear.  There is short term on-street parking directly outside the hotel.
