As far as is practical, The Royal Hotel is committed to making all facilities available to all people, regardless of permanent or temporary disability, both for the convenience of our guests and for compliance with current legislation.
Accessible hotels – Stornoway Isle of Lewis.
Reception, cocktail bar, restaurants and accessible toilet facilities are all on the ground floor, for which wheelchair access is via HS-1 Cafe-Bar. There are ramps between HS-1 and reception and between the cocktail bar and the Boatshed restaurant.
We regret that the building layout and structure means it is not practical to fit a lift to bedroom floors, so we have not adapted a room specifically for guests whose limited mobility restricts them to a wheel chair. Level access to first floor bedrooms is, however, available from the car park at the rear of the hotel.
Guide dogs and hearing dogs are welcome in their owners’ accommodation and all public areas. Braille signage and hearing loops are not yet generally provided.
Facilities available will be continuously reviewed and new facilities introduced where necessary, practical and possible.
Please feel welcome to discuss your specific requirements with our reception staff.
We are commited to giving people with disabilities equal access to websites and online content. This site has been designed with accessiblity in mind and we believe it will comply with equal access requirements. For example, all text may be adjusted in size, all relevant images and links are provided with alternative descriptions and the coding has been checked for conformance to appropriate standards.
As the BBC have done such an excellent job of providing guidance for users who wish to adjust the way a site is displayed to them, probably much better than we could do, this link which will open their accessibility guide (into a new window) is provided to assist you.
